FAQ for Attendees
-
The Ch’town Zine Fest is held in the Rotary Auditorium at the Charlottetown Library Learning Centre (97 Queen St).
-
The event runs from 10 AM to 4 PM. Plan to stay awhile, it takes time to browse everything.
-
Entry into the event is free, you do not have to buy anything to browse the fair.
-
Bring cash and a bag to carry zines and books home in. Some tablers may accept cards or e-transfers, but many will be cash only. There is no ATM on-site, but there are several banks nearby and an ATM at Downtown Convenience (54 Queen St).
-
The Ch’town Zine Fest is all-ages and some of our most prolific tablers are children! But do use discretion while browsing as some materials aren’t made for kids.
-
The Ch’town Zine Fest is often loud and crowded. The first hour between 10–11am is the calmest time to attend.
FAQ for Tablers
-
Your zines and display materials (e.g. bookstands, table signage)
A TABLECLOTH ! ! !
Float for making change
Payment device or e-transfer info
Tape, markers, scrap paper
Snacks and a water bottle
-
A good starting point is 20 copies per title. Less than that is a little, more than that is a lot. 50+ copies is A LOT and will likely last for multiple years.
-
Pricing depends on your printing costs and format. A common range is $2–$10 for smaller zines and $10–$20 for longer / full-colour ones. Zines that cost <$10 will sell more copies than zines that cost >$10.
-
Each tabler gets half of a regular folding table (about 3x2 ft) and a limit of two chairs. Professional book sellers can request a 6 ft space since they bring a lot of material.
-
Yes, the library has free Wi-Fi and a limited number of power outlets. Tablers are welcome to bring their own payment setup (e.g. Square) or accept e-transfers. We strongly recommend also having a cash float. We try to spread the word to bring cash everywhere we promote the fair.
-
There will be a break area in the kitchen with free coffee and lunches (probably sandwiches) for tablers and volunteers. There are also water bottle fountains throughout the library.
-
Plan for a friend to sit your table or ask one of our volunteers to cover for you. You can find them working the front table and we'll have floaters throughout the event as well.
-
No ♡ since Zine Fest is a one-day-only event, we strongly prefer that all tablers plan to stay for the full day (10 AM to 4 PM plus setup/teardown).
-
Yes, seats aren't assigned, so you can sit anywhere you'd like. Arrive on time and you should have lots of spaces to choose from.
